Start Them Young

My little one is starting to show a keen interest in animals now that she’s almost two years old. I recently came across the Fisher-Price Laugh & Learn Smart Stages Piggy Bank when shopping online and thought it looked perfect for her. It’s a piggy bank that teaches numbers and animals to children and has a very colorful set of plastic coins that come with it. She instantly took a liking to it and I haven’t been able to take her attention off it since.

Fun Sounds and Songs
This piggy bank is great because of all the sound effects and songs that it comes jam-packed with. When the nose of the pig is pressed, it randomly makes an oinking sound effect, says a phrase, or sings a song. The phrases and songs help young learners to become familiar with certain words while the sound effects are just pure fun. When the door to remove inserted coins is opened, the piggy bank says the words “open” and “close” out loud.

Children Learn Numbers
The piggy bank comes with ten coins which have animals imprinted on them. When the coins are dropped into the piggy bank, it counts out the number of each coin so that young ones can learn numbers from 1 to 10. In addition to this, a setting can be switched on to read the numbers aloud in both English and Spanish. While it’s counting out the numbers, it’s also making piggy sound effects randomly as well. This adds to the whole process of learning to make it more fun and entertaining.

Different Age Settings
This piggy bank is appropriate for ages 1-3 as older children may not be quite as entertained with it. One of my favorite features it comes with is the ability to toggle between two different age or learning groups. The lower setting has more basic phrases and songs, while the higher setting has slightly more advanced words and phrases which they can learn.

As for where to find this piggy bank, it’s available at the following three retailers:

Amazon
Buy Buy Baby
Bed Bath & Beyond

All in all, the Laugh & Learn Smart Stages Piggy Bank is an excellent starter toy for children to learn about animals, numbers, and even the basics of saving money. I rate it 4.5 out of 5 stars.
