When I started looking for strollers, I was a little overwhelmed. I wanted to buy a stroller that would grow with my child. At the same time, I had a small car and didn’t want to hassle with sticking a giant stroller in the trunk. I looked at small umbrella strollers, but they didn’t seem sturdy enough. Most of all, I had no idea what I would do if I had a second kid. By the time I was done looking for strollers, I realized I definitely didn’t want to have to go through all of that again. That meant I had to start my search all over again, looking for something that would work with two kids as well as one.
When I found the Baby Jogger City Select with the second seat, I was floored. Could this be the answer? It turns out it was. Let me elaborate.
The first thing that drew me to the City Select was its ability to function with one or two seats. I liked the versatility, and it meant I wouldn’t have to buy a new stroller if I had another child. I’m glad I got it when I did, because I did end up having another baby 20 months after the first, and I never had to buy another stroller. I have quite a few friends who bought a single stroller initially and eventually had to upgrade to a double. I had everything I needed right off the bat.
The stroller required assembly, and I made myself proud by doing it myself while my husband watched. It was much easier to put together than the crib was. Although it was heavier than I expected, it ended up being sturdier than I expected too. My kids are now 5 and 6 and I was able to use this stroller until last year. I got a good five years out of it, and it’s still in good shape.
The City Select isn’t too heavy to maneuver into the car, which is a definite plus. It’s not a compact umbrella stroller by any means, but it fits into the trunk of my sedan. It came in handy when traveling, because I could make sure both of my kids were secured and weren’t lagging behind, and the basket beneath it held all of our things.
When I needed to take long walks to calm the kids down and get out of the house, the City Select was invaluable. I was able to not only keep my kids contained, but also get some exercise. The extra weight from pushing both kids added to my workout. The City Select was ideal for pushing around paved surfaces, and it kept up with my pace.
Do yourself a favor and get the City Select if you want to avoid the overwhelming search for the perfect stroller. You’ve already found it.
